The mission of Pine Knot Elementary School is to cooperatively educate all students and extend their skills to become productive members of society. We believe all student have the ability and the responsibility to be purposeful, active learners. We are committed to having high expectations of our students and are dedicated to providing positive experiences and a safe learning environment. Pine Knot Elementary School - A Great Place to Learn!!
Pine Knot Elementary School consists of Preschool thru 6th grades and offers a variety of both curricular and extra-curricular programs and activities to challenge and engage our students so they can reach their full potential. We take great pride in our student-friendly environment and strive to have high expectations of both ourselves and our students. All of our teachers meet the "Highly-Qualified" educator standards as mandated by the Kentucky Department of Education and participate in professional development opportunities to continue gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to provide instructional strategies and content that challenge and motivate students to learn in their classrooms. The building that Pine Knot Elementary (building 2) School is housed in is viewed as a historical landmark in our community. It was once the home of Pine Knot High School, one of two local high schools in McCreary County before the schools were merged into McCreary Central High School in 1978. We continue to be the "Home of the Dragons" and the mascot and Dragon logo has remained iconic to our community image. Our campus is located at the intersection of Hwy. 27 and Hwy. 92. Because our school district maintains high technology standards in an attempt to keep our students current with modern technology needs, each classroom in our school has two student Dell Computer work stations, one teacher work station, an overhead proxima teaching system that are all connected through state-of-the-art wireless technology. We are currently incorporating classroom sets of Chromebooks for all students. The faculty and staff at Pine Knot Elementary School are dedicated to providing a positive environment of safety and opportunity. We celebrate the individual differences of our students and empower them to reach their highest potential. The teachers are facilitators of learning as they lead, guide and encourage students to become independent thinkers and learners. The curriculum focuses on providing activities that are developmentally appropriate and learning comes alive as students explore their individual learning styles. As a result, students become more motivated and strive to reach the goal of proficiency and excellence. Pine Knot Elementary School is committed to a school community that encourages students to make decisions that lead to honest behaviors, self reliance, productive citizenship and respect for all people. |
